The team behind the hugely popular online trading community, thepeoplesweb.com wanted to pitch the idea of building a Comic Relief trading community to the Comic Relief marketing team, it was HH Design that they turned to for the essential design input and creative strategy. Graham Laker, HH Design's Managing Director takes up the story. "thepeoplesweb.com is an online trading community where people pay £12 a year to buy or sell as much as they want. We've been working with the team behind this website for some time now, so with this all-important pitch, they wanted us as their design partner so that we would make the right impact with the Comic Relief marketing team." Graham knew that to do this, the pitch to Comic Relief had to demonstrate a clear understanding of the vision and values that underpin the Comic Relief brand. The red nose has become an enduring and iconic symbol and this too had to be reflected in the concept they were presenting. "As you can imagine," Graham continues, "the marketing team at Comic Relief are on the receiving end of thousands of ideas so we knew that ours had to really stand out. We had to show that this project had the potential to raise millions..." The result?
Well as you can see, HH Design and thepeoplesweb.com team were given an overwhelming vote of confidence from Comic Relief and so marketplace09.com (the brand name for the new Comic Relief online trading community) was born. The design concepts, animation and fabulous graphics are courtesy of HH Design. To secure the buy in of journalists the team created goody bags, each one including a marketplace09.com presentation on a USB stick - attached to the larger-than-life image above. It went down a storm! "This project embraced everything we are passionate about - creative design, print and web that delivers results. It also holds a special place in our hearts because marketplace09.com has the potential to raise millions of pounds for Comic Relief and in doing so it will change many people's lives for the better," concludes Graham.
